The Comparison Journey
Feel the
difference.
Scroll through each pair. The ingredient lists get shorter. The textures get richer. The choice becomes clear.

Beeswax Crayon
Hand-rolled from raw beeswax and mineral earth pigments. Lays down rich, luminous color that blends like butter.

Plastic suspended in water. Releases microplastics when dry, flakes off over time, and never fully biodegrades.
Ingredients
- Acrylic polymer emulsion
- Synthetic pigment
- Preservatives (formaldehyde)
- Defoamer chemicals
- Fungicide additives

Clay & Mineral Pigment
Ground from ochre, lapis, and iron-rich clay. Mixed with water and a drop of honey. The oldest paint on earth.

My kids have been drawing with these beeswax crayons for two years. The colors they produce are unlike anything I've seen from a box store — warm, layered, alive. And I never worry about what's on their hands.

I switched to Gather's plant dyes two seasons ago. The indigo is extraordinary — it shifts from slate to cobalt depending on how the yarn takes it. You simply cannot replicate that with synthetic dye.

Our classroom budget is tight, but I convinced our director to switch after showing her the ingredient list comparison. Fifteen children, zero reactions. The mica flakes in particular have become a favorite for our solstice projects.
